Cape Cod: Originally a catcher, Tibbitts has settled in and developed into a good defensive first baseman for the Hoosiers, though he also caught and played corner outfield for the Whitecaps. He may look like a stereotypical long-levered masher, but Tibbitts shows good bat-to-ball skills, finds the barrel often and doesn’t have to hit home runs to be productive.
2/15/21
Brock Tibbitts: C, (2021) New Albany, OH. Indiana Commit, 6-foot-4, 202-pound. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 93 mph. Started in an athletic wide stance with a smooth compact load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is explosive, shows an upward swing plane and high finish. Movements laterally were athletic. Behind the plate, he made strong, efficient throws to second at velocities up to 82 mph; had soft hands, athletic footwork, and a clean exchange. Displayed next-level catching ability by boasting a 1.88-1.95 pop time. Staggered setup with tons of flexibility. Had a quick arm action and a high ¾ slot. Recorded a 60 time of 7.03 at the event.
7/14/20
Hit: Very solid round. Physical bat from the right side with a ton of feel for contact. Barrelled up balls to the middle of the field in BP. Power: Easy jump of the bat, that generates gap abilities. Offensive Projection: Run producer. Max Exit BP Exit Velocity: 96mph. Max BP Distance: 321ft. Field: Has all the tools you want to be a scholarship level backstop. Size, athleticism and an absolute cannon. Stock way up here. Throw: Well above average arm. Defensive Projection: C.
2/17/20
2/17/20 Position Player Hit: Arguably the most physical round we saw from the OEB group, simple moves that create balance, level path that allows for natural lift of the baseball, legit extra base hit threat who offers both strength and speed to stroke. Power: 90 mph tee exit velocity, easy gap abilities with potential for occasional power. Offensive Projection: Run producer. Field: Registered pop times of 1.93-2.02, clean actions, athletic look to him, physical backstop with all the tools to work with. Throw: 79 mph arm strength from the crouch, big arm back there, ball zips to the bag with carry. Defensive Projection: C.
6/13/18
A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced setup. Load is efficient and smooth. Launches from a balanced position prior to taking a nice, level path to the baseball. Creates impressive pop with a lower effort swing. A line drive type with gap abilities to both sides of the field. Offers a balanced offering of strength and speed through the zone. Definite young bat to follow. At third base he plays with quick feet and soft hands. Ball skills are above average for class. Transfer is efficient and ball comes out well. Solid defender. Although he looked the part in the infield, future looks a bit brighter behind the dish. Skill set is well ahead of the curve across the board for class. Good athlete back there with a solid arm. Obvious upside back there.
