Charles Dean: OF/RHP, (2021) Centennial, OH. Cincinnati Commit, 6-foot, 190-pound. At the plate, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 92 mph. Began in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is explosive, displays an upward swing plane and high finish. Displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.92. 

Hit: Right-handed hitter that starts in an athletic stance. Goes with a fluid, athletic load that comes together well. Obvious athleticism in the box. All fields approach. Ball jumps when squared. Posted above MLB average bat speed according to blast, topping at 80.4mph.
Power: Easy gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: Run producer.

Field: Looks the part in the outfield. Smooth tempo with above average ball skills. Clean play through. Solid defender
Throw: Arm is a big time tool.

Scouting Notes: Legit two-way, scholarship prospect. Obvious athleticism on the mound. Fast twitch actions with above average arm speed. Repertoire is highlighted by a mid 80s fastball that was up to 86mph. Will throw a four seam and a cutter. Also showed a sharp breaking ball that is an above average offering.
Fastball: 83-86mph.

2/23/20 Position Player
Hit: Right handed hitter. Open and upright stance in the box. Loads into his back hip well, while hands go from ear to chest in load sequence. Uphill bat path which creates natural lift. 
Power: 90 mph tee ev. Easy gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: Top of the lineup table setter.
Field: Worked as an OF. Under control when approaching the batted ball in play. Good footwork as he works to get around the baseball.
Throw: 89 mph from OF. Above average arm strength.
Defensive Projection: OF/Possible CF 

2/23/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Worked solely from the stretch. Quick arm action from a ¾ arm slot, with repeatable mechanics.
Fastball: 82-85. Works downhill with cutting actions.
Curveball: 74-76. 11/5 action with late break. 
Changeup: 77-78. Good command with arm side run.

2/9/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Primarily throws from the stretch. Short but quick arm action through a ¾ slot. Utilizes lower half well. Repeatable delivery.
Fastball: Comes in downhill with some cut.
Fastball Spin Rate: 2000-2020.
Curveball: 12-6 shape with good depth. Offering shows sharp bite. Swing and miss pitch.
Curveball Spin Rate: 2090-2240.
Changeup: Above average pitch when in the zone. Late fade with fastball arm speed.

2/9/20 Position Player
Hit: Starts out in a wide, slightly open setup. Hands tend to bounce up and down during loading sequence. Gets into his lower half driving off his back leg very well. Path works uphill through the zone.
Power: Present pull side power. Flashes the ability to hit to multiple parts of the ballpark for power.
Offensive Projection: TBD. Speed plays well towards the top of the lineup in a table setting role.

Field: Under control in the outfield. Tends to speed up as ball comes in. Glove works well enough to possibly play Center Field.
Throw: Above average arm with solid accuracy. Long arm action through a ¾ slot.
Defensive Projection: Outfield

Body Type: 5-foot-11, 167 pound athletic frame with room to add.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Efficient lower half load with a short, fast arm action. Throws with
great intent.
Fastball: 78-80 mph. Showed life through the zone. Stayed mostly straight.
Curveball: 68-70 mph. 12-6 shape with tight, late break.
Changeup: 72-73 mph. Commanded the pitch well and showed some arm side fade.
Pitchability: Filled the zone up with all three pitches. Fastball showed late life through the zone. Curveball has the ability to cause swing and misses. Changeup still developing into an above average offering.
Additional Comments: Interesting follow in the ‘21 class. Fast twitch and has the athletic ability that will increased strength and maturity should see velocity increase.

Swing Mechanics: Wider stance in the box for him producing an aggressive, uphill swing path. Generates energy well in his swing allowing for his intent in each hack to be seen.
Hit: Nice contact overall presented. Saw harder barrel contact as he turned on pitches pull-side.
Power: 82 mph exit velocity.
Offensive Projection: TBD for now.
Run: 7.11 60-yard.
Field: Glovework presented in the outfield has playable actions for a ‘21. Developing ability to work through the baseball more efficiently with footwork progressing.
Throw: 81 mph from the outfield displaying great arm strength and hit target on a line at home.
Defensive Projection: Outfield.

On the bump the right-hander has a slower paced tempo that speed up post balance point. Goes with a chest high leg lift prior to his drop and drive load. Arm works well through a high-3/4 slot. Generates above average arm speed for his class. Ball comes out well, sitting 70-72 mph with his fastball. Shows all the physical signs of more velocity to comes. Offers a changeup and breaking ball for his secondary pitches. Breaking ball is sharp and projects to be an above average offering. Puts good spin on the pitch that moves on an 11/5 plane. Looked to have feel for his changeup that showed run and dive.
