6/2/14
6-foot-6, 195-pound prospect. Looks the part with plenty of room to fill out. Moves well off the bag. Quick arm action. Will improve with quicken transfer/exchange. Left-handed hitter starts from a wide, balanced stance. Slightly open. Small stride. Simple upper half load. Hands get into good loaded position. Uphill path. Shows power in his swing. On the mound, he sat 80-82 mph with some sink through a high 3/4 arm slot. Shows average arm speed with short arm action. Uses a 71-72 mph breaking ball with 11/5 action. Didn't show a lot of action, but still managed to get bad swings during game play. Changeup also sat at 70-72 mph with some fade to it. Projects more as a position player, but with size, he has potential on the mound.
7/29/13
6-foot-6, 195-pound prospect with long, wiry frame. Projects best as a first baseman at this stage. Best tool at present is his bat. Consistently drove the ball to all fields from the left side with pull power. Short stride with slight uphill path to the ball. Consistently squared it up in batting practice and game play. Recorded top exit velocity of 87 mph off the tee. In the field, he uses short arm action through over the top slot. Has some quickness to his exchange, but needs to continue improving footwork and feel around the bag. On the mound, the right-handed pitcher throws through a high ¾ to over the top arm slot. Uses average arm speed with short, stiff arm action. Tall and fall type delivery. Fastball is straight at 77-80 mph and breaking ball shows gradual action down in the zone at 67-68 mph. Also uses a 68-69 mph changeup with similar movement to his fastball. Tends to slow down his arm speed with the pitch.
