Engle continues to get better each time we see him. Over the winter he showed he had tooled up, adding strength and pop to his game. On this day he once again impressed as a defender showing athletic actions, 87 mph arm strength across the diamond, and an overall skill set that could be used at multiple positions on the field. However, the big jump came with the hit tool. Balanced swinger with a fast bat that generates much more pop than frame would suggest. Drove the ball in BP the best we’ve seen him.

Swing Mechanics: Fluid movements that create regular energy. Hit: Always has shown ability to make frequent barrel contact and is now starting to add some natural tools behind it. Much more physical than we’ve seen in past, showing gap abilities. All fields hitter who will take what the pitch gives him. Power: 88 mph exit velocity. Gap abilities. Offensive Projection: Multiple Roles. Run: 7.05 60-yard dash. Field: Checks all the boxes up the middle. Athletic kid with ball skills and big arm across the infield. Throw: 87 mph across the diamond. Defensive Projection: All three skill positions. Additional Comments: Engle can really play. Measurables continue to improve and stock will continue to rise. One of the more obvious breakout candidates this spring/summer. Very talented player with scholarship abilities.

On the bump the righty has athletic actions inside his fluid delivery. Arm is compact/clean while moving through a high-¾ slot. Fastball will show slight action coming in at 75-76 mph. Offers both a changeup and breaking ball to his secondary arsenal with feel for both. Breaking ball has big, gradual action on an 11/5 plane. The pitch shows signs of sharpness at 64-67 mph. Looked comfortable and confident with his 70-71 mph changeup. A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced setup. Actions are fluid and athletic in the box. Launches from a strong position and finds plane well. Impressive strength/bat speed combination for class. Very good when weight shift was on time. Generates easy gap pop. In the infield he does a nice job of remaining athletic and low throughout fielding sequence. Times actions well as hop dictates. Ball skills look to be above average for class.
5-foot-9, 160-pound prospect. An aggressive hitter at the plate that generates energy through a well timed weight shift. His vertical barrel placement gives him natural whip through the zone. Very good when barrel flowed to the middle of the field, has a tendency to let his direction go to pull side. Consistently found the barrel in batting practice, showing the ability to produce line drives. A very aggressive outfielder that gets to the ball quickly. Showed confidence in his glove while playing through the baseball. Tends to field in the middle of his body. Uses a pro shuffle to get momentum into his throws that were consistently on target. Showed fluid, athletic footwork in the infield. Tends to field from heels. Looked comfortable moving outside his funnel. Glove skills are above average at this stage. Was very smooth on his slower rollers.
