6/6/17 On the mound Eyink flashed impressive arm talent. Arm is live while working through a high-¾ slot. Fastball jumps out of his hands at 84-87 mph. The pitch showed substantial cut when working to the outer half. Change-up has late sink to while maintaining fastball arm speed at 72-75 mph. Still developing feel for the breaking ball but it shows signs of being a solid pitch, Works on an 11/5 plane at 69-71 mph. At the plate he starts open and uses a knee pinch to initiate lower half. Hands stay fluid prior to launch. Path is slightly downhill with above average bat speed. Gap to gap guy that works out of a middle/away approach. In the infield he does a nice job of remaining athletic while playing low. Footwork is clean and glove is above average. Projects more on the mound at this stage but is a very good athlete that could have two-way potential at the right level.
A very athletic presence on the mound with a 6-foot-2 frame. Arm action is loose with above average arm speed. Ball comes out of his hand well as he ran his fastball up to 86 mph. His 12/6 curveball isn’t a big breaker but has sharp, late action and does enough to miss barrels. Maintains his arm speed on his changeup that showed run and sink. Aside from his impressive performance on the mound he also showed tools in the infield. Mechanically sound with smooth actions. Plays low and has impressive glove skills. His pre fielding footwork allow him to maintain momentum through fielding into his throws. Threw across the infield with 79 mph arm strength. At the plate he keeps his hands simple during his short stride forward. Bat gets through the zone with above average bat speed on a level path. Strong kid that showed impressive pop to his pull side during batting practice. Reached a top exit velocity of 89 mph.
