2/15/18 Scouting Report:

A two-way prospect who had an impressive showing on the bump. A strike thrower with a live arm. Fastball comes out of a high-¾ slot sitting 83-86 mph. The pitch is heavy with occasional arm side action.  Slider shows sharp, tight action with depth at 73-74 mph. Curveball shows similar depth/action with a slightly more up to down shape at 70-72 mph. Both breaking balls are above average offerings. A definite college future on the bump with scholarship potential. Also shows a changeup that has heavier arm side action than fastball at 75-77 mph.  A corner infielder with a big arm. Frame fits the third base position. Moves light on his feet, showing above average range to both sides. Solid defender. A physical bat from the right side. Load is quiet and efficient. Swing shows natural loft with impressive strength at contact. Ball explodes off his bat when he gets extended. Hands can get tied up at times. Launched several moon shots to his pull side. Middle of the lineup type bat.

Jackson Eyink SS / RHP / St. Ignatius, OH / 2018

Commitment: Cincinnati

Report: Eyink makes his commitment to the University of Cincinnati. Last summer, Eyink batted .342 with 13 RBI despite being injured for most of the summer. This summer, he will play for the T3 Rays.

6/6/17 Scouting Report:

On the mound Eyink flashed impressive arm talent. Arm is live while working through a high-¾ slot. Fastball jumps out of his hands at 84-87 mph. The pitch showed substantial cut when working to the outer half. Change-up has late sink to while maintaining fastball arm speed at 72-75 mph. Still developing feel for the breaking ball but it shows signs of being a solid pitch, Works on an 11/5 plane at 69-71 mph. At the plate he starts open and uses a knee pinch to initiate lower half. Hands stay fluid prior to launch. Path is slightly downhill with above average bat speed. Gap to gap guy that works out of a middle/away approach. In the infield he does a nice job of remaining athletic while playing low. Footwork is clean and glove is above average. Projects more on the mound at this stage but is a very good athlete that could have two-way potential at the right level.

7/12/17 Scouting Report: On the mound the southpaw has a fluid, repeatable delivery. Arm works well through a near high-¾ slot. Generates well above average arm speed. Fastball gets out of his hand well, showing late life. Tends to slow his arm a bit on his change but is able to put run and sink on the offering. Breaking ball was tight, showing solid depth as it moved on a 1/7 plane. Also showed a knuckleball that had some dance to it.

7/12/17 Scouting Report: In the outfield, his approach is smooth and repeatable. Receives the ball out in front of his body on his glove side foot. Throws with a long action from a 3/4 arm slot with average arm speed. Could benefit by getting more on top of the ball. A right-handed hitter that starts in a taller stance, Uses a bat tip to gain barrel momentum during his short stride. Path is level with noticeable whip through the zone. Showed feel in the box, consistently finding the barrel. Line drive type guy with gap to gap capabilities. Much more pop to come as he fills out projectable frame.

Duncan Hall RHP / Miamisburg, OH / 2019

Commitment: Louisville

Report: Duncan Hall makes his commitment to the University of Louisville. Last spring Hall batted .381 with 4 RBI. Hall also pitched well last spring, posting a 1.26 ERA with 44 strikeouts over 44.1 innings pitched. He had a record of 4-3. Hall’s summer team is the Cincinnati Flames. In the summer, he recorded a 1.34 ERA with 35 strikeouts over 31.1 innings pitched. He also batted .202.

5/5/17 Scouting Report: 6-foot-5, 195-pound athletic, projectable frame with long limbs. The University of Louisville commit is ranked no. 21 in Ohio’s class of 2019. Got the start on the mound. From the mound he throws with regular but not a whole lot of effort to his delivery. Has some hip load and a higher leg kick to incorporate his lower half. Lands in a straight line at foot strike and finishes with his momentum carrying toward home plate. The ball comes out well from his hand with quickness to his arm speed through a high-¾ slot. He stays on top and buries his fastball. In the first inning his fastball was sitting 85-87 mph from the windup. Saw a little drop in velocity from the stretch maybe because of the need for a lower leg lift to the plate thrown between 82-84 mph. Didn’t have a need to throw his off-speed pitches much but flashed his curveball a couple times. The curveball showed mostly gradual break on this day with good depth close to being on a 12/6 plane between 67-69 mph.
