Josh Jenkins: C/RHP, (2024) Saint Ignatius, OH. 6-foot, 180-pound athletic frame. In the box, Jenkins had a max exit velocity of 88 mph. Began in a balanced stance with a high controlled load, then used a leg kick. Bat speed was average, and used a level upward swing plane. Laterally, his movements were athletic. While catching, his best recorded velocity during throw downs was clocked at 76 mph; had athletic footwork, soft hands, and a clean exchange. He produced a pop time of 2.06-2.19. Clean setup with average flexibility. On the mound, had a ¾ arm angle and a compact arm action with some arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows some effort. Athletic balance point. Produced a fastball that came in at 74-76 mph; has arm side control and running action. Showed a 11/5 curveball (62-66) with gradual action. His changeup (68-72) showed fading action and arm side control.

Delivery Notes: On the mound Jenkins showed a drop and drive style of delivery and threw from a ¾ arm slot. Seemed tentative when landing on his stride leg.
Fastball: The fastball was 69-70 mph and mostly true through the zone.
Fastball Spin Rate: 1620-1680
Curveball: His breaking ball was 60-61 mph with slurvey shape and tumbling type action with minimal bite.
Curveball Spin Rate: 1370-1480
Changeup: The changeup was 59-61 mph.

Hit: At the plate he has a slight leg kick with an aggressive weight shift forward. He has a slight armbar during his load and shows a flat bat path while somewhat casting his barrel around the zone.
Power: 74 mph tee exit velocity.
Top BP Exit Velocity: 77.2 mph
Top BP Distance: 230 feet
Offensive Projection: TBD
Field: Showed fluid actions with some athleticism behind the dish. Young prospect who should continue to develop nicely. Pop times will lower as arm strengthens.
Throw: 68 mph from behind the plate.
Defensive Projection: C

2/2/2019 Pitching

Body Type: 5-foot-6 135-pound prospect.

Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Throws from a ¾ arm slot with a ‘drop and drive’ style to his delivery.

Fastball: 58-63 mph fastball was mostly true through the zone.  

Changeup: 53-55 mph changeup was mostly true through the zone.

Pitchability: Average command and feel for his two pitch mix.

Role: Present pitch mix and velo would be more of a bullpen type, but as a 2024 the main thing to focus on in the years ahead is physical development and strength.

Body Type: 5-foot-6 135-pound prospect.

Swing Mechanics: Starts in a balanced, medium setup. Steps forward during load and drives back hip well. Decent barrel control.

Hit: Slightly above average bat to ball ability.

Power: 69 mph exit velocity.
Offensive Projection: Present physical tools make it hard to project too far down the road. Shows some good components to his swing. Will continue to build on them as he develops physically and matures.

Field: 2.50-2.62 pop time. Behind the plate he shows big movements and average feet and exchange.

Run: 8.97 60 yard dash.

Defensive Projection: Young prospect. Physical development will be key to get the most out of his skillset.
