Hilton looks to be one of the top returners for the Statesmen. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound, left-handed hitter is coming off a freshman spring where he hit .319 with 10 doubles, two home runs, scored 57 runs and drove in 34. In his round of BP he stayed highly-repeatable, controlled the barrel, used the whole field and looked like a potential top-of-the-order profile moving forward. He peaked at 92.6 mph off the bat, averaged 85.6 and his furthest batted ball traveled 336’. Defensively, he could fit somewhere up the middle of the infield with clean actions, steady hands and an arm that topped at 80 mph.

 

Kevin Hilton: SS/2B, (2023) Elder, OH. 5-foot-10, 165-pound. Athletic during batting practice, Hilton clocked an exit velocity of 87 mph. (67.01 mph bat speed average). (22.13 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed was above average, displayed a short simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. In his round he found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. Solid while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 75 mph; had a fluid natural exchange, consistent soft hands, and average footwork. Out front fielding mechanics. Showed a compact arm action and consistent accuracy to the bag. Recorded a time of 7.15 in the 60-yard dash.   

 

Kevin Hilton: SS/2B, (2023) Elder, OH. 5-foot-10, 165-pound projectable frame. At the plate, Hilton's 98 mph exit velocity ranks him 3rd at the event. Began in a wide open stance with a smooth quick load, then used a controlled stride. Had a rotational level swing plane and quick bat speed. Athletic while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 77 mph; shows soft hands, athletic developing feet, and a clean quick exchange. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front.

Hit: (LHH) Started in an open stance with a smooth load, then used a quick stride. Above average bat speed. Level finish, simple swing. Aggressive approach.

Power: 89 mph exit velocity.

Defense:  (IF) Sure hands, athletic footwork, quick exchange. Athletic.  Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic.

Arm: 75 mph infield velocity. Very quick arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy.

Speed: 7.05 (60-yard).

Hit: Lefty hitter with a vertical stance that shows a quick twitch bat. Bat path stays level throughout the zone creating some pop.
Power: 83mph exit velo with a max distance of 248 feet.
Offensive Projection: Line drive hitter that can spread the ball to multiple parts of the field.
Field: Smooth fluid footwork that shows good range in the middle infield.
Throw: 71mph infield velo.
Defensive Projection: MIF.
