7.90
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Body Type: 6-foot-2, 195 pounds. Physical athlete with sturdy frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Showed a shorter arm action out of a ¾ arm slot. Mechanically can be more smooth to create fluidity in delivery process as his tempo was at a slower pace.
Fastball: 77-80 mph. Produces some heavy arm-side run. One of the better moving fastballs at the event.
Curveball: 72-74 mph. Has some late, sharper bit to it. Command was average overall.
Changeup: 72-74 mph. Shows nice arm-side run to it with some depth.
Pitchability: Big kid with potential as he learns to get more from lower half and finish strong. At times gets downhill well but finishes taller causing his accuracy in pitches to be left up and inconsistent. Was a little more effective out of the stretch but he has more to give over the next two years with his stature.
Role: Varies.
Additional Comments: Also took bP where he showed middle of the lineup potential and gap abilities. 85 mph exit velocity.
2/4/18
A lefty swinger that starts in an athletic setup. Goes with a leg kick for timing and a slight back load with hands. A middle of the lineup type bat, who’s natural loft allows him to lift the ball without losing bat speed. Ball comes off well, generating gap pop with signs of pull side power. In the infield he plays under control with his feet that displayed showed quickness. Hands are soft and actions are fluid. Ball skills are developing. Big bodied right-handed arm with a projectable frame. Slower paced delivery that does not require much effort. Fastball comes out of a high ¾ slot. Will definitely see an increase in velocity with better incorporation of lower half. Presently sits 76-80 mph. Changeup is thrown near with fastball arm speed, displaying more dive than run through the zone at 71-72 mph. Also spins a tight breaking ball with some depth at 72-73 mph.
60-yard dash: 7.76
Infield Velocity: 80
Exit Velocity: 83
1/22/17 6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect. On the mound the right-hander has a smooth tempo to a delivery that requires some effort. Arm works well and he showed above average arm speed. Displayed a fastball/curveball combination while working through a high-3/4 slot. Fastball was mostly straight, sitting 75-79 mph. Throws a power breaking ball that had an 11/5 shape at 71-72 mph. Showed confidence in his glove in the infield. Would like to see him play lower. Third baseman mold. Left-handed hitter that starts in an even stance. Uses a small stride to initiate his lower half with slight inward turn of his lower half. Doesn’t completely clear his front side to allow full rotation of his hips. Hands are relaxed and load from shoulder height. Takes slight uphill path to the ball. Top exit velocity of 74 mph off the tee.
