Michael Niro: RHP/SS, (2023) Padua Franciscan, OH.
5-foot-10, 155-pound. Raw during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 77 mph. Began in an athletic stance with a controlled load, then used a big leg kick. Has some bat speed and level swing plane. Base hit approach. Solid in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 75 mph; has consistent hands, and athletic feet. Movements laterally were athletic. Clocked a time of 7.74 in the 60-yard dash. Solid on the mound, showing some arm speed he used a quick arm action with a ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher. Displayed a recoil finish Curveball (64-65 mph), changeup (68-69 mph), slider (65-66 mph).Sat with his fastball at 74-77 mph.
Hit:Right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Gets things started with a leg kick for timing. Hands move slightly back before accelerating the barrel through the zone on a level path. Squared the baseball up consistently in BP, spraying it line to line.
Power:Line drive pop.
Offensive Projection:Multiple roles.
Max BP Exit:76 mph
Max BP Distance:214 ft
Field:In the infield he plays with direct routes, cutting down distance off the bat. Hands work well/ball skills are solid. Displayed the ability to make plays outside his funnel.
Throw:Serviceable strength presently with much more to come.
Defensive Projection:MIF.
Scouting Notes:Two-way prospect. On the mound the right has an efficient delivery that he is able to repeat. Cross fire type with a cleaner arm. Fastball/breaking ball type guy who showed feel for spin. Follow as he continues to develop physically.
