Body Type: 6-foot, 175-pound athletic frame with physicality.
Swing Mechanics: Tall stance. Goes with a leg kick for timing while keeping hands simple through pitch recognition and into swing decision.
Hit: Compact level stroke that plays to all fields. Finds the barrel often. Sprayed it to the middle/opposite field at the beginning of his round before ramping up intent towards the end of the round, displaying some pull side power.
Power: 91 mph exit velocity. Fast bat with heavy hands through the zone. Loft power to pull side with gap abilities to opposite field. Ball comes off well.
Offensive Projection: Multiple Roles, Run Producer
Run: 7.09 60-yard dash.
Field: Plays under control with fluid actions in the outfield. Mechanically sound with a one-handed play through. Ball skills look to be on par for class. Good athlete. Also worked out at third base. Looks more natural in the infield. Moves well with rhythmic feet. Ball skills are more than enough for the third base position.
Throw: 81 mph from the outfield and 80 mph across the diamond. Short, clean arm action with above average strength. Throws were on target for the most part. Arm grades higher at third base.
Defensive Projection: 3B/Corner OF.
Additional Comments: Athleticism shows up all over the field and at the plate. Outfielder/3B hybrid that will likely be above average at whichever destination he ends up at in college. One of the top hit tools we saw on the day as well. Lefty swinger with some electricity in the bat with a knack for finding the barrel.
6/06/18
A lefty swinger that starts in a taller setup. Hands are smooth through load and into launch. Actions are very fluid in the box in general. Takes a nice, level path to contact displaying feel to both gaps. Solid round of BP. At third base he shows an above average skill set across the board. Creates angles with his feet and plays low through fielding. Hands are soft and ball skills are on par for class.
A left-handed hitting infielder with a well-rounded skill set. At the plate hands stay very loose giving him easy whip and early batspeed. Stays balanced throughout swing and works to all fields. Bonnizzio’s combination of barrel feel and natural tools make him a high average type while being a regular threat to drive the gaps. Displayed an above average skill set across the board at third base. Feet are smooth and glove plays as a well above average tool. Moves well on laterally and maintains rhythm through fielding. Arm is on par for class and projects for more strength as he matures.
5-foot-9 prospect with an athletic frame. At the plate the lefty starts in wider setup. Loading sequence is efficient and fluid. Swing is compact and bat path is level. Bat has some quickness to it through the zone. Top of the lineup guy with the natural tools to move to the middle of the order as he matures physically. Moves light on his feet in the infield and gets to a solid fielding position on plays in his funnel. Glove skills are adequate and he showed quickness to his transfer. Needs to work on laterally mobility to stay in the middle infield at the next level.
