Put together outstanding showing as an underclassmen at the 2014 TPG. Lanky, athletic frame. Short arm action through high 3/4 arm slot. Top velocity of 82 mph across the infield with accuracy. Needs to quicken his transfer and stays aggressive through the ball. At the plate he starts in a wide stance. Uses a short stride. Tendency to dive, which effects head plane. Uses a short path to the ball with line drive production. In game play, he tripled off the left field fence and singled up the middle. Ran a 7.18 60.
2/17/14
West hit our radar only a year ago. Since that time, his body has physically developed and his skill set has improved. In the field, he shows fluid footwork and the ability to cover ground. Good rhythm to his actions with some softness in his hands. Arm action has some length to it, but showed accurate throws with some carry at a top velocity of 76 mph across the infield. At the plate, he initiates his swing with a leg kick, which creates a tendency to dive. Upper half works with a simple load and short path to the ball. Needs to improve overall balance for the next level.
1/21/13
5-foot-10, 145-pound athlete that shows soft hands defensively with good arm strength (76 mph) at this stage of his development. Needs to enhance footwork. Ran 7.03 60-yard dash. Right-handed batter that hits from upright stance. Makes contact despite flat plane path. Needs more top hand in swing and lower body torque. Needs to continue to develop strength and improve offensive skills as he matures.
