Damron put on twenty pounds of solid weight and was noticeably more athletic on the mound than when we saw him last winter. The Firelands HS product showed off an easy 84-88 mph fastball, with a plus changeup and good spin on his breaking ball.
2/15/16 6-foot, 160-pound projectable frame. On the mound the lefthander starts with smooth rhythm and a very controlled delivery. Shows good direction to the plate, landing on line at foot strike. Has a tendency to fall slightly off towards the third base side. Long back arm action into a high ¾ slot with quick arm speed. Three pitch mix with the fastball sitting 82-84 mph. Mixed in a two seam fastball that sat 79-82 mph with arm side run. Curveball sat 70-73 mph with 2/8 break. Changeup sat 76-77 mph with arm side run.
7/15/15 6-foot, 154-pound thin, projectable frame. On the mound the southpaw has a slow tempo delivery that he is able to repeat. Is closed at foot strike,which causes him to throw across his body. Throws from a high-3/4 slot with fastball sitting 80-84 mph. Spins a breaking ball at 65-69 mph with good 1/7 tilt.
2/16/15 5-foot-9, 135-pound lanky frame. On the mound the southpaw has compact delivery with good tempo that he is able to repeat. Lands slight closed that cause him to cut himself off. From a high-¾ slot his fastball sits 74-75 mph with arm-side run and occasional cut. Showed two different kinds of breaking balls. His curveball with 1/7 tilt was 65 mph and threw a slider with later break and some depth at 68 mph. Had good arm speed on his changeup at 68-71 mph with fade to it.
11/2/14 5-foot-9, 135-pound build. On the mound the southpaw has a short leg lift with slight head tilt and closes himself off a bit at foot strike. Throws from a loose, high-¾ slot with fastball sitting 75-77 mph. Has a good feel for throwing his breaking ball for a strike at 67-70 mph. He also showcased a hard changeup at 71-73 mph with good arm speed.
