Athletic-bodied at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, Brannon has a Shane Bieber look to his operation. And similar to Bieber, Jordan deploys a nasty power breaker as a main weapon. His power slurve showed good depth with late bite and tight rotation (2600-2700 spin rate) at 79-81 mph and drew numerous swing/misses, as well as a couple “no thank you, just looking” strikeouts. He paired his breaker with a 90-92 mph fastball that he rode to the top of the zone. His velo on this look was down a bit as he’s known to run it up a couple ticks higher (typically touches 94-95). His No.1 also has elite flight characteristics, including a spin rate up to 2500 rpm. Jordan will also show a low-80s changeup that can be projected to become at least average in the future, however he did not throw it much on this look. Jordan is a bat-misser as evidenced by his .146 OPP AVG so far this spring and .104 last season. With a simple, repeatable delivery he projects as a starter at the next level and should be considered starting around the 4th round this July.
A 6-foot-2, 185-pound righty, Jordan went undrafted in the five rounds this past June. He returns to Columbia where he features an 91-94 mph fastball with elite flight characteristics, including a spin rate up to 2500 rpm. He pounds the zone with above average control, can really pitch and projects as a starter at the next level. His offspeed offerings include an 80-84 mph slider with spin rates in the 2800-2900s. He will also show an above average curve at 77-81 mph (2600-2750 rpm) and a future above average changeup in low-80s. Jordan finished the 2020 season with the top numbers on the Gamecock staff, going 2-0, 1.71 ERA, 21 IP, 7 H, 9 BB, 32 SO, .104 OPP AVG.
2020 DRAFT: A 6-foot-2, 185-pound righty transfer from Cowley County (KS), Jordan features an 91-94 mph fastball with elite (95th percentile) flight characteristics, including a spin rate up to 2500 rpm. He pounds the zone with above average control and can really pitch. His offspeed offerings include an 80-84 mph slider with spin rates in the 2800-2900s. He will also show an above average curve at 77-81 mph (2600-2750 rpm) and a future above average changeup in low-80s. He projects as a starter at the next level and a likely top five round pick this summer. Jordan finished the 2020 season with the top numbers on the Gamecock staff, going 2-0, 1.71 ERA, 21 IP, 7 H, 9 BB, 32 SO, .104 OPPAVG.
