Ranked inside the top-10 prospects in the Oklahoma 2025 class, Tapley’s most valuable asset on the diamond is a quick-twitch athletic skill-set that stands out when you watch him play. He’s an impact runner, busting it out of the box and consistently posting advanced run times down the line. He’s athletic at the plate with loose hands and a handsy right-handed stroke that he repeats in rhythm. Tapley recently peaked at 89 mph from the outfield at the Oklahoma Top Prospect Games, translating that aforementioned athleticism into that portion of his workout, too. He’ll represent Team Oklahoma at the PBR Future Games at the end of July.
Positional Profile: OF
Body: 6-foot, 156-pounds. Lean and athletic build with room for added strength and size in the future.
Hit: RHH. Starts with an open stance and upright posture. Rhythmic swing with a slow load into the lower half. Leg kick stride with hands working back into position and getting set early. Lower half works linearly through the zone with strong push into a firm front leg. Hands work quickly through the zone and shows good overall bat speed. Shows the ability to drive the ball to all fields. Line drive approach with a level bat path. Maintains balance and athleticism well throughout the swing.
Defense: In the outfield attacks the ball with controlled rhythm and aggressive routes. Fields the ball on the outside of the glove side leg with a feel for glove action and clean exchanges. Utilizes a shuffle crow hop technique registering 89 mph from the OF.
Run: 4.46 runner home to first.
