Wiggins will miss the 2023 season after recently suffering a torn UCL. He will have Tommy John surgery.

7/26/22

Wiggins has a frame that you want to believe in at 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, along with a fastball up to 99 mph. However, the fastball lacks movement at times, and the secondary stuff is still developing with a slider in the 83-85 mph range and a changeup at 85-87 mph.

5/01/22

The sophomore right-hander has a big arm, averaging 96 and touching 98 mph with his heater, while also showing some feel for an above average 85-87 changeup and an effective 83-85 slider. Although his fastball has plus-plus velocity, it plays down due to average movement, a very ordinary Vertical Approach Angle (-5.7) and lack of control. In 51.2 IP this season Wiggins has allowed 47 hits, while walking 31 and striking out 59.

7/20/21

The biggest of the big arms on the CNT this summer, Wiggins touched 100 on my radar gun and 102 on another scout’s during his one inning relief appearance in Princeton. He sat 97-98, but surprisingly the CNT hitters had little trouble barreling his upper-90s heat. They sat fastball and didn’t miss it when they got it. His 15 pitch appearance resulted in three barrels, two hits, no walks and no strikeouts. A top arm for the 2023 draft, Wiggins must consistently land his 84-86 mph slider and similar speed change. Both offerings have shown plus in the past, and the changeup showed good action and resulted in some empty swings Monday against the Olympic team. As a 19 year old who just completed his freshman year in college, Wiggins already possesses all of the ingredients to project as a front of the rotation starter in the Major Leagues and top of the first round consideration for 2023.

2/22/21

Long, slender bodied right-hander who prepped in Oklahoma. At 6-foot-6, 200 pounds he threw lightning bolts, pumping it up to 98 mph (#HeatSheet) while striking out all three batters he faced on Sunday against TCU.
