Layne Rutherford: SS/RHP, (2021) Grove, OK. 6-foot-1, 155-pound slim and athletic frame. In the box, the right-handed hitters best exit velocity was 81 mph. Began in a tall stance with a big load, then used a leg kick. Has quick bat speed, loose swing plane and high finish. Found multiple barrels in his rounds. Line drive approach. Above average showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 86 mph; had soft hands, rhythmic footwork and a fluid exchange. Used a high ¾ slot with a short arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. Clocked a time of 7.22 in the 60-yard dash. Fluid on the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle with a quick arm action while showing good arm speed. Up-tempo type pitcher who uses some effort. Tall balance point with even shoulders. Lands closed with a clean finish. Sat with his fastball at 81-85 mph; showed a straight movement. His curveball (70-75) shows glove side command and hard action. His changeup (76-77) shows in the zone control and plus action.
