2.19.18 A couple of things immediately stand out when watching Alex pitch, the first being his lanky, projectable, long-limbed frame with plenty of room to fill out as the 2020 classman continues to mature. On the bump, the left-hander has a loose arm with quick and whippy action action from a lower ¾ slot. Slow in the back, but delivery is athletic and easy with no glaring mechanical flaws. His fastball tops out at 83 mph with some running action down in the zone. Shows a good feel for his curveball which has a 2/8 shape with good depth and some deceptive qualities. Changeup sat 76-77 mph with similar arm speed as his fastball. As Mitton continues to mature and get stronger, the 6-foot-1, 150-pound southpaw will be a very intriguing follow for coaches as there is certainly more to come in the future.
11.3.17 2020 grad with projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 145-pounds. Skinny frame, much more to add from a physicality side. The arm is loose and whippy from 3/4 slot, tough angle for hitters. Fastball was 77-79, at times would get underneath ball, when on top he had natural run, ball comes out clean and easy. Showed feel and spin for curveball with 2/8 shape, had some depth and looks to be quality pitch moving forward. Maintained arm speed with changeup that works in low 70's with fading actions, threw strikes and was down in zone. Lots of upside here with the body and actions. One to follow on stay on as we track Mitton and his development.
