OF Aiden Ament is a 6-foot-2, 192-pound outfielder with some raw ability offensively and defensively. He led off the day running a 7.00 60-yard dash, the top time of the group. It’s a max effort run that could use some mechanical tweaks. From the left side of the batter's box, there’s some juice as he was up to 85 mph in exit velo. There’s a lot of lower half movement, leading to inconsistency with timing and erratic front foot placements. Cleaning out the lower half will be a key for Ament, as a stronger controlled base will allow him to be more consistent. There’s some bat speed and power to work with, and the barrel says through the zone for a long time. From the outfield, Ament charges aggressively and at times get’s his body behind his throw leading to carry. Staying more in sync with his body movements will allow Ament to consistency gain more length to his throws. Uncommitted 19' grad who should be a key member to the Astros success this season.
Ament shows as promising frame at 6-foot-2, 180-pounds with room to add size and strength. Left-handed hitting outfielder who ran well with a 7.06 time in the sixty that can be quicker and better start. Hits from wide stance with toe-tap to load. Hands are relaxed with movement and at times had some length to swing. Did move the barrel around the zone and showed some jump off the bat to right-centre gap. Hand eye is there and more to come from an offensive side, along with an 85 mph exit velocity. Defensively, moved well and ball came out at 79 mph with a long, loose arm. More there as he can be more in sync with his lower half and release. Overall a 2019 with some tools to his game, speed and a left-handed bat that can really make a push with a strong winter and some added strength.
