4.15.17
great pitcher's frame at 6-foot-2, 180-pounds from the left side. Works from 3/4 slot with clean actions in the back, slow tempo delivery keeps him in control of body but room for more velocity and more intent from lower half. Strike thrower who fills the zone and knows how to pitch. Gets arm side run on his fastball while curveball has gradual break and shows signs of 1/7 shape. Changeup mimics fastball slot and shows some deception out the hand. Like the upside in Babcock and his feel for pitches, room to gain velocity and take game to next level as he matures and develops his game.

3.26.16
Increased in size as the left-hander is now 6-foot, 155-pounds. Hits from right side with minimal movements, front foot gets down on time and hands are back in good position to hit. Gap power with room to add more as he gets stronger and older. Defensively, moves well around the bag and shows ability to pick balls n the dirt. Off the mound, Babcock works with a small  leg kick and a 3/4 arm slot, shows command with fastball in low 70's range, curveball has spin but can be thrown harder, at times will push the ball. Changeup shows promise as he has feel for pitch, chance to be a 3 pitch guy who can gain from intent and rhythm on the mound. Should continue to grow and add strength.

6.24.15

The 5-foot-9, 140-pound left-hander possesses a good foundation with his mechanics. Works from a 3/4 arm slot with clean action in the back. Lands flat and online, at times will fall off and not be able to finish his pitch. Showed good command with fastball at 67-68 mph. Had some run when he stayed on top and worked downhill. Curveball had proper rotation at 56 mph, was able to throw strikes with both pitches. Changeup was 58 mph and with his arm action, has chance to be a useful pitch. Worked three innings at UC Games and was able to induce quick outs while pitching to contact. A repeatable delivery will be a big help to Babcock as he continues to develop and get stronger. Look for the 2018 grad to continue to get better.
