Mahood is a left-handed hitting catcher with bat speed and chance to tap into some power potential as he continues to polish his game. He does not get cheated at the plate with a best 88 mph exit velocity from his most recent PBR event, there will be strength and bat speed to come as he makes physical gains. From the outfield, the arm plays and shows good carry coming out the hand. A nice get for Salem International where the left-handed bat of Mahood should slot in nicely.
A strong and projectable 2021 classman with plenty of room to add size and muscle to his frame as he continues to mature. The raw power that Mahood possesses from the left side stands out immediately for his class. Quietly loads on his back foot with a slight leg kick, he is able to get the foot down and drive the bat through the zone explosively off a straight front foot. Hands work well, good barrel awareness for his age, ball jumps off the bat, lots of loud contact, with clean extension. Mahood has a slight arm bar in his swing but with minor adjustments and continued growth, more pop should come with age. In the outfield, ball comes out of the hand cleanly from a 3/4 slot with carry. Overall, Mahood is a very impressive 2021 grad and will be a fun player to watch develop in the coming years.
