The Friele 5: 2019 Ontario New Year Open - Five Uncommitted Prospects

CJ Maury SS / 2B / Mayfield, ON / 2020

Report: One of the standout performers of the showcase, Maury showed tools across the board with plenty of projectability. Defensively, he possesses very smooth actions with a good first step and lateral quickness. He looked comfortable fielding ground balls to his glove side and backhand and got the ball away very fast and there is present arm strength with carry through the bag with most throws were on target with zip. He has the actions to stay on the dirt and the arm strength and instincts to play at third. There was a lot to like in the cage as Maury showed a compact swing with an effective load. His path to the ball was direct with good rotation in his lower half. There is some power potential as it’s a sound swing combined with strength. Maury has taken some huge steps over the last year with the physicality and strength rounding into form, he will be one to watch during the 2019 season and a good look for those wanting to add to their 2020 recruiting class.
