7/5/17 Big frame for age at 6-foot-3, 199-pounds. Lyons, both a pitcher and first baseman. At the plate, creates torque with bat angle and works to get on plane, ball jumps with some pop when he stays athletic and in his legs. Shows pretty good control of body in the box, exit velocity was 75 mph. Defensively, looks comfortable at first, takes proper routes to ball, arm works with accuracy. On the mound, Lyons worked in the low 70's, topping out at 74 mph. Would lose his finish and fight to get downhill at times, when he did, ball had run and was able to induce ground ball outs. Has shown better feel for curveball in the past but has idea on how to spin it. Big body kid who should gain a ton of muscle as he matures. 60-Yard Dash: 8.90 Exit Velocity: 75 INF Velocity: 69
10/23/16 Lyons is a physical 2020 grad that is listed at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds. Works from 3/4 arm slot with an easy, repeatable delivery. uses size to create good downhill angle on his fastball that sits in the low 70's with arm side run. Can spin curveball with 11/5 shape and downward action, threw pitch for strikes and showed an advanced feel for age. Changeup was inconsistent this bullpen, with him missing up and to arm side. Actions suggest it will be a pitch for Lyons down the road. Size and feel for the mound, will follow and see how Lyons come out of the offseason.
