2.19.18 Dylan Howard is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound catcher who must get stronger and more athletic as he continues to develop. At the plate, swings it from the right side. Uses a leg kick to load onto back side, hands work, lacks some barrel awareness, but has a flat bat path and shows the ability to spray the ball to his pull-side. Shows some agility from the crouch, arm works cleanly and throws remain on-line. Overall, a 2019 classman who will be an interesting follow through the summer.
9.9.17 Howard had a good day and also showcased himself from the infield for the first time we've seen, showing versatility while moving through the ball and maintaining balance in his lower half. Showed arm strength and carry from the crouch, gains ground well and gets rid of the ball. At the plate, some feel there, if he can stay extended out front Howard will be able to barrel up more to middle of the field. Fundamentals are there and shows IQ during workouts, Howard looks to be on the right path moving forward.
5.7.15 Howard is a 5-foot-10, 160-pound 2019 catcher with some current strength and room to add more as he matures and grows. Threw the ball well with carry behind the plate, hands received well and worked from short, 3/4 arm slot and a velocity of 72 mph from the crouch. At the plate, hit from the right side with bat speed through the zone, starts with some looseness and waggle in the hands, looked to pull and would cut off swing at times, when extended he gets through the ball and stay middle of the field. Some tools to work with for the 2019 backstop. 60-Yard Dash: 7.57 Exit Velocity: 81 Pop Time: 2.06 C Velocity: 72
