8.16.18 Another outfielder who stood out at TPG’s. Made spectacular play in RF as he chased down a ball down the line, spun and fired a strike to second base, athletic and impressive play to say the least. 7.00 runner who does a lot of things well. Can throw and plat defense while the bat is the big tool that has improved, generates well with lower half and was spraying the ball with hard contact across the field with more feel and power to his pull side. Actions are there, not done developing and chance to have a big 2019. One to be on for college coaches.
10.22.17 - Baptie is an interesting senior as the 2018 grad shows actions that are mixed with athleticism and strong fundamentals to his game. The outfielder ran a 7.5 on a wet track and usually stays around a 7.20 that plays quicker in game. Tracks the ball well and shows proper footwork with carry on his throws. At the plate, there is looseness in the hands and throws the barrel out with extension and was able to drive some balls into the gap. The setup is clean but the hands rush back and can create timing issues with his lower half and load. Some small corrections and added strength this winter could pay off with huge gains for Baptie moving forward. One to follow and watch his development this winter, Baptie could easily come out in the new year and grab people's attention early.
3/26/17 2018 outfielder improved all his numbers and was 4.50 flat down the line from the right side. Arm was 82 mph from high-3/4 slot with clean actions in the outfield, exit velocity jumped to 86 mph and had more intent to swing. Can still look to involve lower half more during batting practice, athletic frame that with increased timing can more out of swing. No red flags with the way he plays, added strength and minor adjustments offensively can help Baptie improve overall game. H-1st: 4.50 OF Velocity: 82 Exit Velocity: 86
2/20/17 Added weight and strength , now listed at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds as the added weight plays well on his body. Ran a crooked 7.45 in the 60-yard dash with regular effort that will be a few ticks quicker with a cleaner run. Threw the ball well from the outfield, arm was clean and worked well, showed he could get out front and on top of the ball with true rotation and accurate, online throws at 78 mph, a 8 mph increase from last year. At the plate, hits off front side, able to increase more power as the load and timing effect him from involving lower half, hands work down to baseball, looked more of a contact guy then looking to drive the ball, has more in the tank from an offensive standpoint. Solid 2018 grad with room to keep getting better. 60 Time: 7.45 OF Velocity: 78 Exit Velocity: 79
1/23/16 2018 graduate with even frame shows potential for added strength and size at 5-foot-10 and 145-pounds. At the plate shows minor hitch in swing, can have potential for added explosiveness when corrected. Exit velocity at 76 mph, there is some athleticism to his game. Defensively, under control approach in the outfield, 70 mph velocity will spike with added strength and increased use of lower half. The arm works with some quickness, moves well in the back and gets the ball out front.
