2.18.19 A left-handed hitting catcher out of the Etobicoke Rangers organization, Cuthbert was one of the premier players on Sunday. Behind the plate, Cuthbert was quick with his transfers, getting his throws off at 74 mph to record 2.03-2.12 POP times. He put together a solid BP session, he was short to the ball with a positive attack angle, and with power to all fields. Cuthbert has the potential to be a middle of the lineup bat, while starting in the OUA/OCAA.
8/4/17 Cuthbert, imposing left-handed hitting catcher at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds, big leg kick to get started, at times will get stuck with separation in swing, shows power to pull side and had base hits up the middle and through the 4 hole during game action. Threw two runners out during the week with good carry to the bag on his throws. Some minor tweaks to work out offensively, Cuthberts size and left-handed bat make him an intriguing prospect moving forward. Exit Velocity: 91 60-Yard Dash: 7.78 C Velocity: 77 Pop Time: 2.04
7/5/17 Physical, left-handed hitting catcher now listed at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds. Has continued to improve, best pop time from the crouch in 1.95, transfers were clean and arm had carry at 75 mph. Moves well for size, can soften up hands some and work underneath baseball while receiving. At the plate, big left-handed swing, at times barrel can lag, when extended and out-front Cuthbert drives the ball to pull side, has to continue to be aggressive during at-bats. Another left-handed hitting catcher from Ontario with upside and physicality to game. One to follow and track his development. 60-Yard Dash: 7.60 Exit Velocity: 85 C Velocity: 75 Pop Time: 1.95
10/8/16 Meets the eye test at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds left-handed hitting catcher. Defensively sound behind the plate, transfer is fluid, arm works from 3/4 position with a best pop time of 2.19. Offensively, balanced and athletic setup, hands are back in good position to hit, on time and generates through lower half, hands are loose and drove balls through right side during batting practice. Young 2019 grad with size and good foundation at the plate, as well as behind it.
9.19.15 Young 2019 grad with size at 6-foot, 175-pounds. Left-handed hitting catcher with room to develop and athleticism. At the plate, worked mostly to pull side of the field, small stride to load and at times would drop bat head and get long. Hands are loose with some waggle and Cuthbert loads on back side. Can incorporate more into swing with lower half, exit velocity was 71 mph. Defensively, was 2.35 pop time, can work on transfer and feet. Young 2019 grad with time to grow and develop as ball player, look like physically will have a chance.
