Duffy, a 2020 athletic right-hander has been excellent on the mound the past few months and the 6-foot-1, 190-pound came to a decision this week with the announcement of him committing to Canisius. Duffy works from a loose, and easy ¾ slot while the curveball is the more advanced secondary pitch at the moment with his ability to use with tight and late action, garnering swings and misses. He will use his changeup when needed, and the pitch has made strides late into the fall for Duffy. Canisius seems to be a great fit and we expect to continue to hear about Duffy dominating hitters into his senior 2020 season, and beyond at Canisius in the MAC.
5/12/19
Duffy was seeing the ball well as the left-handed hitting 2020 grad was barreling everything he saw in both games on Saturday. At 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, Duffy is a physical, power-hitting infielder for the Great Lake Canadians. At the plate, Duffy does a solid job of keeping his head down, while staying short and compact with his bat path, allowing his strength to take over. There is raw power to all fields, and on Saturday that was evident at Dan Lang Field.
8/4/17 Duffy started the first game for Ontario at the Future Games, going 3 innings vs. a strong Michigan team. The 6-foot, 155-pound right-hander uses an uptempo delivery with athleticism on the mound. Sat 82-83 for most of his outing while mixing in his curveball at 68-70 while his changeup was 75-76. Can tell the confidence he has in his breaking ball, throwing it in any count, Duffy spins the ball well and 11/5 shape and downward action. The 2020 grad works from 3/4 slot and gets arm up on time with some arm speed out front. The young 2020 shows a high ceiling with his movements and feel for curveball, envision a spike in velocity as he continues to mature. Look for Duffy again next year as the 2020 grad continues to improve.
6/14/17 Duffy is an athletic prospect with a wiry 6-foot, 155-pound frame with room to add size. Left-handed bat that uses a simple approach while spraying ball across the field, balanced and in time with launch position, had an exit velocity of 81 mph. Defensively, showed smooth actions in the infield, hands and feet work well together and adding strength will create more strength to throws across diamond. On the mound is where Duffy separates himself with a compact delivery, loose arm with above average curveball for his age. Fastball sat 80-82 with more in the tank. Creates good angle and throws strikes. Will be one of the more intriguing prospects in his class, follow closely for college coaches. 60-Yard Dash: 7.40 Exit Velocity: 81 INF Velocity: 78
2/20/17 Duffy is a lean, 5-foot-11, 145-pound two way player with a frame to add more size and strength which in turn should play a big role in his development. Ran a 7.65 in his lasered time 60. Defensively, showed confidence in glove with body control, good read on balls with clean footwork, instincts to make the play are there, accurate with arm and gets carry on ball across the diamond at 80 mph. At the plate, left-handed bat, loads into back side while hands work back to launch, rhythm in setup with aggressive, line drive approach, added strength will help increase bat speed, some lift and length involved at times but right track on working to stay inside ball. Chance for Duffy to take off as he begins to mature physically. Strong foundation of fundamentals to work with. 60-Yard Dash: 7.65 Exit Velocity: 73 INF Velocity: 80
