2025 Matt Barkley was one of the hottest Canadian bats on Wednesday. His low, powerful approach at the plate along with a smooth path to the baseball allows him to drive balls all around the field. Matt put up three hits, including one triple to CF, with patience at the plate working in deep counts and plenty QAB’s. Great vision in the OF, easy routes to the ball and solid body control. Quality overall showing on both sides of the baseball by the uncommitted 2025.

Physical: 5-10, 175 pounds; Athletic, muscular build. 7.12 runner in the 60. Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a compact swing path with a two handed finish. More groundballs than line drives and flyballs with a peak exit velocity of 89 MPH via Trackman. Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; walks into ready position while being aggressive. Hands are off to the side with a delay in transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high 3/4 arm slot. OF - 80 MPH.

2025 OF/LHP Matt Barkley was one of the top performing bats at PBR Spring Training and seemed to come through with multiple hits in nearly every game. 5-foot-10, 170-pounds and reads the game well in all areas with good bat-to-ball skills. Average runner right-now but gets around the basepaths well. Quality showing from the uncommitted 2025 who will play with the Detroit Bees and play some elevated competition down South.
