2025 RHP Max Hillier was one of the standout pitchers at PBR Spring Training and it was a good second look at him on Monday. The 5-foot-10, 145-pound right-hander is a TrackMan darling and our staff would have been content to watch Hillier throw a full bullpen of strictly breaking balls. Clean arm-action with strike-throwing ability and the fastball sat 74-76mph. Breaking ball has a true 12-6 look to it with tight spin peak spin of 2688rpm (avg. of 2529) and averages -22.2inches of induced vertical break. The pitch grades out as one of the best breaking balls we’ve seen this year. Another good showing on the mound from the East York product.
3/15/23
Hillier put together a strong outing on the mound for NRS this afternoon at PBR Spring Training. He showed one of the better breaking balls we’ve seen so far this week. Sharp downerward action up to 2694 rpms, it has the chance to be a K pitch. With added strength and maturity, there is more velo to come. Looking forward to seeing him on the mound later this week.
