2.19.18 Very clearly, Tanner made some big strides over the offseason, adding some muscle to his frame and improving as an overall baseball player. At 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, Hodgson has long legs and still has room to add more size, but the work ethic is there and so are the tools for continued growth. Easily left a strong impression during year’s opening showcase. Shows athleticism at the plate from the left side, uses a leg kick to load on his back side, and drives bat through the hitting zone, showing off some good bat speed and quick hands. Stays inside the baseball, bat path appeared more flat than last year, showed good bat-to-ball skills and the ability to find the barrel on some pitches in BP. In the outfield, Hodgson shows off athleticism and aggressiveness, taking long strides to the ball, arm works and tops out at 83 mph. Overall, Hodgson looks ready to take the next step in his development. There is plenty more left in the tank, but expect a big season from the 2019 grad.
7.5.17 Hodgson has continued to trend upward as the left-handed hitting outfielder improved all his stats since the winter when we saw him last. Ran a 7.30 flat in his sixty. At the plate, quick leg kick to load, hands work well to contact as he looks to lift while working more to pull side in BP. Can get off balance at times but the hand-eye makes up for it, showing his athleticism in the box. Solid defender with confident glove and good reads in game, arm had more life and carry to it while also being accurate at 78 mph. Added strength and quickness will help take Hodgson to the next level with his game. 60-Yard Dash: 7.30 Exit Velocity: 82 INF Velocity: 78
2/20/17 Now listed at 6-foot, 165-pounds, Hodgson has seen the benefits of added size help his game as all numbers have improved. Ran a 7.34 lasered 60 with long legs and room to add more strength. From the outfield, arm worked cleanly but at times would drop causing some tailing action on the ball. Was on top it was accurate and online with proper rotation and a velocity of 75 mph. Offensively, hits from left side with looseness and some quickness in hands. More so a knee to knee leg kick with load in lower half, hands are loose and quiet before launch, keeps bat through the hitting zone, able to make line drive contact out front. Like the upside as he continues to make gains and fill out. 60-Yard Dash: 7.33 Exit Velocity: 75 OF Velocity: 75
1/23/16 5-foot-9, 135-pound infielder/outfielder who was one of the youngest players at the showcase. Showed well in the cage, gets the bat through the zone, pulls his head off at times, but shows good intentions with his lower half, registering a 74 mph exit velo. Very raw motions in the field, calm as he approaches the ball, gets rid of the ball in a hurry. Hodgson is a 2019 grad with lots of time to grow, but he’s got the basics down and should progress as he gets bigger and stronger.
