The catcher from the Bullettproof Prospects has a big, strong frame at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds. He receives the ball well behind the dish and with some improvements on his footwork could improve his pop-time that sits between 1.91-2.00. At the plate he starts his swing with a quick leg kick and shows the ability to hit to all fields and produce an exit velocity up to 86, and 84 at his last event with us. There are tools and upside that come with Cote, and is a catcher to watch in the 2019 class.

Lean, projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds. Offensively – Sets up in a wide, athletic base with feet square to the pitcher. Weight is pre-shifted onto back leg. Uses a quick leg lift with some coil before getting into forward stride. Hands show quickness while working down to the ball. Swing generated consistent lift on the ball during BP. Cuts off finish at end of swing but still gets full hip rotation against a firm front side. Defensively – Sets up in wide, athletic base when receiving. Showed ability to shift hips to the ball while keeping a soft glove hand. Pops out of crouch quickly. Feet cross slightly as he gets into throwing motion. High exchange after receiving. Compact arm action with loose, whippy finish.

A long and lanky catcher with room to get stronger as he fills out. Currently lacks strength and balance at the plate and will need to make some adjustments. Behind the plate, Cote has a pop time that sits between 2.00-2.10 seconds. Receives the ball well and shows some lower half agility. With added strength and and some refinement in his swing, Cote will be able to take the next step in his development process.
