AJ Verdi: C/2B, (2024) Mohawk, PA. 5-foot-4, 150-pound. Begins in an athletic quiet stance with a controlled load, then uses a small leg kick. Bat speed is efficient, uses a level swing plane and balanced finish. Behind the plate, he recorded a position velocity of 72 mph during throw downs; has sure hands, a natural transfer, and consistent feet. displayed his ability to control the run game with a pop time of 1.94-2.05. Some flexibility and calm setup. Showed a high ¾ slot with a quick arm action. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 8.0.
Hit: Ton of feel in the box from the right side. Vertical barrel launch gives him a running start into contact. Very whippy stroke that runs into contact often. Solid round, showing all field abilities.
Power: Line drive present pop.
Offensive Projection: Table setter.
Max BP Exit Velocity: 75mph.
Max BP Distance: 259ft.
Field: Really liked what I saw behind the dish. Expect the numbers to improve drastically over his high school career as he isn’t near his physical ceiling yet. When you get a chance to see him in game the receiving tool is well above average and he has the willingness to block. High motor type with a personality to take control of a staff back there.
