Kleppinger has a lanky build at 6-foot 165-pounds. Fastball topped at 79 MPH and sat mostly at 78-79 in a bullpen setting. Breaking ball shows smaller 10/4 break at 66-70 MPH. Big movements into a tall, athletic balance point. High leg kick with level shoulders going down the mound. Creates some extension over lead leg and a recoil in finish. Foot lands slightly close and will finish toward first base side of the rubber.

1/28/18 - 6-foot, 165-pound right-hander sat 74-76 out of a 3/4 arm slot. Delivery includes a pronounced side rocker step into a high knee stack with a short arm circle takeaway. Curveball showed slider action with 9/3 rotation at 68-72. Split changeup sat 69-72 with minimal downward action. Long, lean frame has plenty of room for added strength. Some hip coil in stack position allows added deception. Struggled with command of fastball on this date.

6/14/17 - 6-foot, 165-pounder pitched entirely from the strength out of a three-quarter arm slot with low elbow and pie-thrower arm action. Turns back to hitter with hip coil over rubber. Lands slightly crossfire and works around front side. Fastball sat 74-77, while he flashed a solid 11/5 curveball at 68-70. Also showed a slider and a split during warm-ups, although did not appear to feature during game action.

1/28/17 - 6-foot, 165-pound righty sat 76-78 from a long, loose 3/4 arm slot with a high knee stack. Curveball at 64-67 showed little break. Splitter at 67 mph showed 2-seam run with some tumbling action. Slider is above average pitch with tight rotation and cut action at 67-71. Long, athletic frame projects for additional velocity in coming years.
