Defensively behind plate Costello at a young age demonstrates an understanding and ability to execute proper framing and blocking techniques. Considerable athleticism for age is evident in transfers and footwork on throws. Throwing motion is surprisingly compact for age. At secondary position of SS Costello again displayed solid footwork and good hands. Overall, skill set is very advanced for age.
Offensively, swing is initiated from a neutral set up with aggressive stride staying neutral. There is solid balance, weight shift, separation, leverage and extension to swing. The bat stays in hitting zone for long period. Hopefully, this young man will maintain his passion for the game as his present skill set reflects considerable natural ability.
