Schultz at 14 y/o is already a physical 6-foot-1 195 pounds. The frame is long and athletic. Defensively, benefit would be gained from being more aggressive in attacking and playing through the ball on the ground. Fast twitch potential is reflected in 4.28 home to first time.
Offensively, swing is short and hands work direct with considerable quickness. Weight shift is somewhat passive and intermittent early hand leak reduces separation. There is a good feel for the barrel with obvious strength and athleticism. An advanced 14 y/o bat exit velocity of 86 mph was recorded with more to come as Schultz learns to more effectively incorporate his lower half.
On the mound, Schultz worked out of high 3/4 arm slot with FB sitting 73-76 and displaying arm side run. CB at 62-64 showed 11-5 shape and was inconsistent on this day. Schultz also featured a splitter at 64-65 mph with consistent late downward action. Mechanically, there was tendency to land closed and spin off with associated first base fall. Benefit would be gained by driving more aggressively over front knee.
