2017 PBR Future Games - Team Pennsylvania

4/18/17 First look at the two-way prospect this spring.  Sat 84-86 touching 87 mph for 6 full innings from a 3/4 arm slot.  Displayed solid command of a four-pitch mix (6 K, 2 BB).  Fastball had late life although was relatively flat.  Showed solid feel for 70-73 mph curveball with 2-plane 11/5 break and a harder breaker with slider action at 77-78.   Changeup was seldom used at 74-76.  Three solid at-bats resulted in a barreled out to the left-center field warning track and a double to the right-center field gap.

1/28/17 6-foot-2, 195-pound two-way prospect showcased 91 mph arm strength from the outfield, a 92 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 6.83 60-yard dash two weeks ago at the Underclass Preview. On Saturday, the righty also flashed plenty to like on the mound sitting 85-86 while topping at 87 mph from a high 3/4 arm slot. The sophomore also showcased solid command of his 71 mph curveball with two-plane 11/5 rotation and a feel for a 75 mph changeup with solid arm speed and some arm side run.

1/14/17 6-foot-2, 195-pound two-way prospect was fighting the flu but still impressed working solely as an outfielder on this date. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. He flashed advanced barrel whip (91 mph bat exit velocity) and present power to all fields while creating backspin routinely in a solid round of batting practice. Showcased athletic defensive actions with advanced arm strength (90 mph) while running one of the quickest 60-yard dash times of the day at 6.83.

4/11/16 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 with a solid single off an upper 80s fastball. Starts from open stance and uses a flat load to stay through the hitting zone. Tracked ball well on a line drive in the gap defensively and showed advanced abilities on the mound in two innings of relief work. Sat 79-83 while topping at 84 mph from a high 3/4 arm slot with some hip coil to his delivery. 70 mph curveball lags behind an advanced 74 mph changeup at this point of his two secondary offerings. Sells changeup with very good arm speed. Telegraph's curveball and slows arm speed considerably.
11/7/15 6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from an exaggerated open stance and utilizes a leg lift stride to initiate his swing. Embleton creates significant barrel whip (90 mph bat exit) and his flat barrel path allows him to stay in the hitting zone for long periods of time. Ran a 7.17 60-yard dash and displayed the ability to play through the baseball with accurate throws of 81 mph from the outfield.

11/7/15 6-foot-1, 165-pound who pitching out of a three-quarter slot after turning his back to the hitter and uncoiling with some front arm swim. Similar stuff, just with a different feel, to when we saw him previously. Fastball sat 77-80 that occasionally ran or cut based on inconsistencies in delivery (usually release point). Showed a decent feel for both his change-up at 72-74 that also occasionally cut and a curveball with 11/5 action at 65-66.

6/24/15 6-foot-1, 160-pound frame. Pitched out a three-quarter slot, showing good arm speed. Fastball sat 79-80 and touched 81. Especially for his age, showed a very good feel for spinning his curveball with 11/5 action at 63-65. In fact, he actually showed better command of his curveball than his fastball on this day. Also mixed in a change-up at 68-70 with some fade.
6/24/15 6-foot-1, 160-pound right-handed hitter. Started from an open stance and strode to slightly open. Certainly within the context of his youth, he showed good balance, bat speed, and ability to keep his eyes level. Ran a 7.36 60-yard dash and 4.82 in-game home-to-1B time. Showcased 83-mph exit velocity and 80-mph arm strength during workout. As he sets sail on his high school career, he will benefit from more live reps reading fly balls off the bat, as he took flat angles on balls that took off over his head during game action.

3/11/15 Embleton showcased well in all facets of the game. The 6-foot, 155-pound 8th grader ran a 7.47 60-yard dash and displayed athletic actions defensively in the outfield and at first base. Embleton showcased an 82 mph arm and the ability to play through the baseball in the outfield. He also showed solid glove work and an 81 mph arm across the diamond from first base. The primary pitcher sat 76-78 out of a 3/4 arm slot with some hip coil to his deliver and a loose arm. Embleton displayed good rhythm and a high knee stack that leads to additional deception. The righty also commanded a 66 mph flat, sweeping curveball, a 69 mph changeup thrown at fastball arm speed and a cutter at 70 mph. The right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to get closed. Embleton showed a feel for the barrel and good balance throughout his swing with a bat exit velocity of 82 mph.
