A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
1/28/18 - 6-foot-2, 205-pound primary pitcher made a big impression during his bullpen session sitting 86-88 out of a high 3/4 arm slot with arm side run to his fastball. Curveball sat 71-74 with short slider break and changeup sat 79-80 at fastball arm speed. With some work to become a bit more directional additional velocity is likely. Right-handed hitter starts from a narrow, square stance and initiates his swing with a leg-lift stride. Displayed an aggressive lower half and present power with a bat exit velocity of 92 mph. Showcased solid footwork around the bag at first base with accurate 82 mph arm strength across the diamond.
5/9/17 - First look at 6-foot-2, 205-pound right-handed hitter in game action this spring. Barreled baseballs in each of four at bats with two singles and two fly outs that were well hit. Both hits were on curveballs that Kutz stayed on top of and hammered to left. Displayed capable actions around the first base bag defensively.
2/12/17 - 6-foot-2, 205-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Aggressive hip turn leads to 92 mph bat exit velocity and some present power with an uphill path to the baseball. Better incorporation of legs would allow for additional pop. Moves well around the bag at first base and showcased accurate 72 mph arm strength across the diamond.
1/14/17 - 6-foot-2, 205-pound two-way prospect showcased dramatic strides across the board since we last saw him in June of 2015. The right-handed hitter displayed present power (89 mph bat exit velocity) from an open stance. Used a leg-raise stride and strong lower half action to repeatedly drive baseballs to all fields during batting practice. Flashed athletic defensive actions around the bag at first base and command of three pitches on the mound with a fastball that sits in the low-80s.
6/24/15 - 6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitter. Strong frame for his youth with a lot of moving parts in his swing. Started from wide open stance and took a long knee-to-knee and foot-to-foot toe-tap to square with good separation in hand load. Spins hard with backside collapse that inhibits weight transfer. Uphill swing path has a lot of length to it. Ran an 8.22 60-yard-dash and 5.22 in-game home-to-1B time. Showcased 83-mph exit velocity and 71-mph arm strength during workout. Exhibited solid feet and glovehand defensively.
6/24/15 - 6-foot, 185-pound frame. Pitched out of a high three-quarter slot with some funk in his delivery, including a slight hesitation on his way to the plate after he separates his hands. Fastball sat 76-78, touching 80, with occasional armside action. Physically developed relative to peers; if he keeps growing, will have a chance to get solid downhill plane on his fastball. Secondary stuff -- a curveball at 60-61 and change-up at 64-65 -- will improve as he learns to trust them and maintain aggressiveness with fastball armspeed.
