Also showed an ability to make mid-at-bat adjustments during game play. Defensively, he sets up behind the baseball well and posted 72 mph arm strength across the diamond.
2/12/17 5-foot-6, 140-pound right-handed hitter who ran a 6.93 60-yard dash. Consistently barreled the baseball during his BP round and posted an 83 mph exit velocity. Tendency to hook the ball, as he strides closed, cutting off a direct path into the zone and forcing his hands to work around his body. Defensively, he exhibited solid feet and hands with a short, repeatable arm action that generated 75 mph arm strength.
Preseason All-State- NY (February 18, 2016) Stands 5-foot-5, 135-pounds with room to grow in the weight room. Showed good speed with a 7.16 60-yard dash and a 4.37 down the line from the right side. Offensively- Sets up tall and balanced with an open stance. Uses a small leg kick and simple load with slight tilt in the bat. Showed consistent bat path and an aggressive approach. Hit an 81-mph exit velocity. Defensively- Showed clean actions, fielding everything to the center of his body, threw 76-mph across the diamond with a 3/4 arm slot.

5-foot-5, 135-pound right-handed hitter. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash and posted an 80-mph exit velocity. Starts from an open stance and strides to square. Attacks the baseball and used the middle of the field. Swing can be a bit shouldery, which could be reduced by adding strength to his frame. Defensively, he fielded the baseball cleanly and recorded 75-mph arm strength across the diamond.

5-foot-5, 135-pound right-handed hitter displayed a short swing with solid extension from a slightly open stance. The sophomore routinely squared the baseball while demonstrating the ability to use all fields with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. He ran a 7.07 60-yard dash and showed capable defensive actions with 72 mph arm strength across the diamond. Wheeler displayed the ability to make throws from several arm angles and profiles best at second base with his current frame.
Southern Tier Open-NY (August 5, 2016)
Stands at 5-foot-5, 125 pounds, with an athletic body build. He ran a 7.20 60 yard dash. Defensively-He has a good approach through the ball, with smooth, soft hands, throws with a high 3/4 arm action, plays through the ball, and has accuracy on the target. His arm strength was 72 MPH. Offensively- At the plate his setup is relaxed and balanced stance, short, quick stride, with a back load. His hands are very compact, swinging on a little uphill tilt but straight to the ball, with good extension through the ball finishing above shoulder height. His exit velocity was 76 MPH.
