1/20/19 - 5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed hitter starts from a wide and open stance allowing him to be direct with the baseball upon contact. Uses timing and rhythm to consistently find the barrel, which helped him notch an 81 mph bat exit velocity. Ran a 4.62 home-to-first time. Showcased active feet with present feel for his hands being out in front during defensive evaluations. Right-handed pitcher utilized an over-the-top release that will improve with longer arm-action. Fastballs registered from 64-65 mph. Curveball showed 10/4 rotation at 54-55 mph. 56-58 mph changeup will get better with more forward reach.
1/21/18 Offensively, initiates swing from open set up with short stride to slightly closed. Weight shift is passive and their is front side reach and stiffness in landing resulting in uphill swing path. Hands are very quick and there is god leverage working into a firm front side. Solid feel for barrel is present. An 81 mph bat exit velocity was recorded.
Defensively, actions are fast twitch with solid area quickness and range demonstrated. Marra is a 4.44 home to first runner at young age. He shows adequate hands with commitment to working bottom up and playing through the ball. Marra flashes clean transfer with quick arm action and follow on throws. Young player with makings of solid MI defender. Arm strength presently plays on right side.
On the mound, repeats delivery and stays in line. There is front side softness on landing, early front shoulder opening and passive use of glove hand/side. FB sat 64-66 with subtle arm side run. CB at 54-57 showed 11-5 shape and rolling action. CH is work in progress at 56-58 mph.
