Game Performance

Notes

Comments

11/15/21

5-foot-10, 175-pound catcher has been a steady improvement from year to year. Solid, compact frame w/ room to add strength. Behind the dish, above average defender and worker mentality  w/ soft hands and great pitch presentation. Polished blocker and has managed strong pitching staffs with good overall presence and feel for the game. Popped just north of 2.00 consistently and shown slightly above average arm strength (75 C Velo). Offensively, very sound with moderate leg kick and above average bat speed while controlling the barrel through the zone. Not a bopper, due to the need to add some strength, but can produce a heavy dose of line drives to all fields and an occasional gap double. 4.00 GPA student with plans of majoring in engineering.

10/21/18 -  7.85 60, C: 67, Pop: 2.07-2.15, Exit Velo: 73

5-9, 155-pound catcher shows above average receiving tools behind the plate, advanced for a ’22 catcher.  Short, athletic frame w/ some present lower half strength, projectable.  Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into stride and occasional short hand load.  Front foot hitter, developing balance.  Learning to get the same timing every time, flashes bat speed when synced up.  Gap power type w/ projectable pull power.  As a catcher, presents a quality low target w/ no glove rest.  Way ahead of where he should be at this stage of development as a catcher.  Shows ability to stick the baseball w/ hip flexibility.  Learning to beat breaking balls to the spot.  Athletic behind the dish, moves well, shows ability to box the baseball.  As a thrower, shows good footwork w/ projectable arm strength, around the bag accuracy.  Tools to be a premium defender as he develops.
