8/5/18 -  60: 7.37, Position Velocity: C: 77, Exit Velocity: 91, Pop Times: 1.81-1.85
C continued to show his high-level all-around defensive ability while collecting two hits and showing off some power in BP.  6-1, 180-pounder features prototypical catcher frame w/ medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned present strength, projectable.  Offensively, hits w/ an open, very slightly crouched stance w/ hand rhythm into leg kick to square and proper load.  Generates above average bat speed through the zone.  Controls his lower half well, lands square and stays through his hips within his swing.  Up the middle approach w/ lot of line drives when right.  Continues to get better offensively every-time we’ve seen him.  Put on a show in BP on day 2, hitting numerous balls out and showing previously unseen power to his pull-side.  Projectable pull power as he learns to tap into it consistently.  Defensively, presents a quality target just under the hitters knees.  Strong fore-arms allows him to stick the baseball, has an idea of how to manipulate his glove to present strikes.  Moves well behind the plate, allowing him to box the baseball consistently and keep it in front of him.  As a thrower, features a quick release w/ on the bag accuracy and carry through target arm strength.  Popped 2.00 and 2.04 on 2 in-game throws, both of which should have resulted in a caught stealing.
6/12/18 - Home-1st: 4.75, Pop Time: 1.88-1.94, Position Velocity:  C-84, Exit Velocity: 83
6-foot-1, 180-pound, RHH has taken a step forward offensively from the fall, swinging it well in BP and carrying that over to the games, where he collected 2 hits.  Medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned lean strength, projectable.  Offensively, hits w/ an open, slightly crouched stance w/ hand rhythm into leg kick to square and no hand load.  Generates above average bat speed through the zone at times.  Pull oriented approach.  Had a strong BP, showing consistent hard contact w/ pull power.  Proper swing path w/ still head, projects to hit for average if he continues to make similar jumps.  Worked consistent deep at bats, saw 33 pitches over 8 plate appearances.  Defensively, presents quality low target, though he can present it earlier.  Moves well behind the plate w/ strong wrists, shows ability to frame the baseball.  Athletic defender w/ ability to box the baseball, keep it in front.  As a thrower, shows above average arm strength w/ easy carry through target, athletic w/ quick release.  Accurate w/ ability to put throws on the bag.
10/22/17 - Home-1st: 4.78, Pop Time: 2.03-2.06, Position Velocity:  C-79, Exit Velocity: 81
6-foot-1, 175-pound, RHH reached base 3 times while showing tools to catch w/ arm strength.  Medium, athletic frame w/ proportional build, lot of projection.  Offensively, hits from a crouched, open stance w/ back shoulder hand location and high back elbow.  Bat waggler.  Leg kick w/ short hand load.  A little more hand separation would create better attack angle to baseball.  Barrel stays in zone for long time, shows feel for contact w/ some barrel feel.  Pulled off at times.  Pull oriented approach w/ projectable pull power.  Defensively, presents a big body w/ good low target for his pitchers to throw to, can present target a little earlier.  Quiet glove behind the plate w/ feel for receiving.  Moves well behind the plate.  As a thrower, shows projectable arm strength w/ carry to target.  Efficient release w/ throws on the bag.  High level defensive catcher projects to hit, high level 2020 follow into the spring.
9/23/17 - 6-1, 170-pound catcher w/ makings of elite defensive tools.  Offensively, the righty hits from an open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location and a short bat waggle.  Leg kick w/ no hand load.  Swing stays in zone for long time, will see improvement w/ some hand separation.  Gap to gap type offensive player.  Defensively, shows soft hands w/ feel for receiving.  Moves well behind the plate.  Above avg arm strength w/ solid release yielded consistent sub 2.1 pop times.  Big time catching prospect.
