England Bryan (MTCS, 2024) England Bryan (MTCS) The Vanderbilt signee was a late addition to their 2024 class as he decommitted from Kentucky. With a strong frame coming in at 6 foot 2 and 230 pounds, Bryan had the fastball playing early and often on a chilly night. Occasionally mixing his changeup and breaking-ball to get hitters respect in his ability to change speeds. However, Bryan continuously finished hitters with the electric fastball in the mid 90’s, showing the ability to command it on both sides of the plate. He worked mostly 92-94 mph with a handful of 95’s and a few 96 mph four-seams. The change up was firm at 88 mph with some decent late fading action, while the breaking-ball was kind of a slurvy type of action with an inconsistent release point in the mid 70’s. The Gritty Columbia Academy team seemed to keep traffic on the bases with a few walks but that didn’t phase the RHP as he finished with 9 K’s through 5 innings with only 2 hits. The final strikeout of his outing, Bryan ramped up a 97 mph fastball by the Columbia Academy hitter, escaping a bases loaded jam to keep the game tied 0-0 on his 91st pitch.

6-foot-1, 178-pound two way prospect. Positionally, switch hitting catcher that showed great arm strength (83 C Velo) and good carry on throws. Good low stance with solid hands and average transfers, mixed throws from knee keeping it around the bag. At the plate, tall, slightly open stance with toe tap working into a small leg kick and small hand load. Generates average to above avg. bat speed (T 68.4 mph) and improved rotational numbers (T 28.6 G; Avg: 19.2 G). Some inconsistency in barreling up balls due to steepness in swing, but a young prospect that will have time to iron out the bat path. The arm strength carried over to the mound. Quiet, repeatable delivery with a compact quick arm, throwing with intent and attacking the zone. Also very quick to the plate from the stretch. Heavy FB sitting 86-88 (Avg: 1945 rpm) with good life in the zone. Hard SL at 75-80 (T 2089 rpm) with 2/8 action and flashes of put away pitch. Rounded mix with 78-81 CH that played well off the FB with slight depth.
