6-foot-1, 185-pound backstop was not the most highly-touted player coming into FG, but a quiet demeanor that carries over to his game. Strong, steady frame w/ room to add on. Poteet showcased some great receiving skills w/ soft hands and ability to get low strikes. Offensively, the right-handed hitter has a solid hit tool, consistently picking up his knocks throughout the summer, with some power upside to go with flashes of gap-to-gap power currently (Max Exit Velo: 96.5 mph via Trackman). Plenty of bat speed (Max: 71.1 mph | AVG: 66.74 via Blast) and on plane early and often (78% on plane efficiency). At the next level, looks to be a high-end defensive backstop, who can contribute offensively following the meat of the order. Committed to Vanderbilt at end of August.

6’1, 195-pound catcher continues to impress, improving his bat speed by 4 ticks since we saw him in January. Medium, athletic frame w/ some present lower half strength, upper body projection. Chance to be pretty physical. Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, very slightly crouched stance w/ quiet hands into a bit of a wrap-around leg kick to square and short hand load. Generates above average bat speed through the zone. Simple, repeatable swing w/ barrel that stays in the zone for a long time. Line drive oriented approach w/ ability to use all fields. Defensively, shows quick release w/ clean footwork and projectable carry to target arm strength w/ on the bag accuracy.
