September 8, 2020
The 2020 PBR Future Games was a major success for the Team Tennessee squad as over 400 of the best uncommitted prospects competed at the Lakepoint Sports Complex. With a loaded roster and big time performances throughout the weekend, the team has had seven players commit over the past month and more on the horizon. Next, we'll breakdown the three backstops that donned the orange and gray, including Vanderbilt commit Logan Poteet.

Cade Law | C | Christ Presbyterian Aca. | 2022
6-1, 210-pound lefty swinging catcher had a big weekend at Future Games. Advanced physicality and strength throughout the weekend. Hit a monster BP with a lot of hard contact (87.5% Hard Hit Percentage), hitting the Trackman leaderboards for average exit velocity (Max: 97.1 mph | Avg: 92.9 mph) . Carried over into game play with heavy dose of barrels and base knocks. Powerful lefty swing with some big league bat speed (Max: 79.6 mph | Avg: 76.2 mph). Behind the dish, handled his business w/ steady hands and receiving. Didn’t pop it the best, but plenty of arms strength and some fine tuning to be a high-quality offensive catcher at the next level. A heavily recruited power 5 lefty power stick, who continues to put together impressive outings at big time events.
Jonathan Larrea | C | Baylor School | 2022
6-foot, 175-pound catcher is a defensive guru behind the dish. Advanced receiving and blocking w/ a great ability to steal low strikes and great plate presentation. Strong arm and quick transitions, popped one of the best overall times during the FG showcase (1.92-2.01). Very stealthy behind the plate with great target presentation. Offensively, right-handed hitter w/ some room to go at the dish (Max Exit Velo: 88.5 mph via Trackman), but continues to improve and consistently provides good at bats. Relaxed, upright stance w/ minor leg kick, generating solid bat speed with line drive/fly ball approach. Larrea will continue to work to round out his game, but one of the best defensive backstops on the market with a history of handling elite pitching.
Logan Poteet | C | Powell | 2022
6-foot-1, 185-pound backstop was not the most highly-touted player coming into FG, but a quiet demeanor that carries over to his game. Strong, steady frame w/ room to add on. Poteet showcased some great receiving skills w/ soft hands and ability to get low strikes. Offensively, the right-handed hitter has a solid hit tool, consistently picking up his knocks throughout the summer, with some power upside to go with flashes of gap-to-gap power currently (Max Exit Velo: 96.5 mph via Trackman). Plenty of bat speed (Max: 71.1 mph | AVG: 66.74 via Blast) and on plane early and often (78% on plane efficiency). At the next level, looks to be a high-end defensive backstop, who can contribute offensively following the meat of the order. Committed to Vanderbilt at the end of August.
