9/10/17 - 6-0, 170-pound catcher.  Lefty hitter hits from an open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location and slight bat waggle.  Stride to square w/ short hand load.  Above avg bat speed.  All fields approach w/ idea of the strike zone.  DNS enough defensively to eval.  Very intriguing LHH catching option in 2019 class.

6/13/17 - H-1B: 4.49, Position Velocity: 75, Exit Velocity: 86, Pop Time: 1.97-2.08
5’11, 168-pound, LHH is raw, but has a number of tools and the athletic potential to continue developing for a very long time.  Vandenbergh has some quick twitch and shows that with the measureables he puts up during the showcase.  He hits from a balanced position and uses a very early and short stride to get into position.  His load could be smoother, as that would add some bat speed and rhythm to his swing.  Vandenbergh’s bat path is flat through contact with a little lift toward the end.  He has a line drive approach with the ability to hit the ball to all fields.  Defensively, he has quick feet and gets rid of the ball through a short arm action from over-the-top.  He can come out of his squat a little too soon at times, but is accurate and certainly has the ability to throw runners out.  Vandenbergh finished 1-4 with a walk in game play.

1/16/17 - 60 Time: 7.18, Pop Time: 2.00-2.20, Position Velocity:  C-78, IF-78, Exit Velocity: 86
5-foot-11, 170-pound, LHH hit from the same balanced and even stance we have seen from him all along, stride showed a little more activity  and paired with a slight movement back with his hands to get loaded, lower half fires with some intensity and puts him in a lot of good positions, bat path is a little steeper into the zone and didn’t show quite as much lift as we saw at the Border Battle Games, still showed ability to hit the ball hard to all fields.  Defensively, showed decent hands and quick footwork behind the plate, stands up a little early but works through the ball and gets rid of it with a sure exchange and a short arm action through an over-the-top slot, showed versatility by competing in the infield as well.

10/16/16 - Home-1st: 4.42, Pop Time: 2.02-2.13, Position Velocity:  IF - 78, C - 73, Exit Velocity: 83
5-foot-11, 160-pound, LHH hits from his typical balanced and slightly open stance with quiet hands, uses a pretty conventional stride with a slight lowering and movement back with his hands to get loaded, lower half is wide and strong and provides some leverage with good hip clearance, bat path is flat through the zone with some lift at the end as his backside does a great job of getting involved, can get steep on lower pitches, sprayed line drives around the field in BP.  Defensively, showed above average hands and quick footwork behind the plate, short arm action came over-the-top and produced consistency in throws to second base, could play through it better in the infield.  Vandenbergh was able to record a single, a walk, and a run scored in game play.

6/15/16 - 60 Time: 7.15, Pop Time: 1.91-2.07, Position Velocity:  C-77, Exit Velocity: 82
5'10, 165-pound, LHH hits from a balanced and slightly open stance and begins with his hands in a slightly lower position, uses a short stride that puts him in a closed position right before his swing, hands use a subtle and small movement backwards to get loaded.  Lower half gets through very well and clears his hips to get some separation and allow his hands to get down into a good slot, bat path stays pretty flat through the zone as he does a good job of driving his back elbow in, can get a little stiff in his swing at times, recorded two singles in game play that were very hard hit.  Defensively, showed sure hands and worked very hard for the pitchers during game play, footwork was efficient, sad pretty high when recording pop times but does do a good job of getting rid of the ball as soon as possible, short arm action through an over-the-top slot produced some good throws to second. Showed versatility by taking some ground balls with the infielders.
