An exciting player to follow this summer circuit at Top Prospect Games and TBCA showcase. Kirkpatrick is a field general w/ versatility to play all-three infield positions. Advanced rangy defender w/ strong arm and developing offensive game. Rose from 118 to 64th(+54). Committed to Holy Cross in mid-August.
2/3/19 - 60: 7.09, IF Velo: 80, Exit Velo: 82
5-10, 165-pound middle infielder continues to trend up speed-wise, cutting nearly 3 tenths from his 60 last year. Medium, athletic frame w/ some present lower half strength, some upper half projection. Offensively, hits w/ a very slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into short stride and proper load. Line drive oriented w/ ability to use all fields when right. Still head w/ some barrel feel. Projectable gap power. Defensively, shows soft hands w/ good footwork and projectable carry to target arm strength. Stands out more in game settings as opposed to showcase, has the capability to make some impressive plays up the middle.
7/3/18 - Max FB: 80, FB: 76-80, CB: 61-64 5-foot-10, 165-pound, RHP showed a quick arm, likely profiles best as a middle infielder and everyday player. Medium, athletic frame w/ some present lower half strength, projectable. Pitches from a full wind-up into an OTT to H ¾ release from the first base side of the rubber. Glove side can be stronger, help his direction to the plate, just along for the ride at this point. Learning how to get his quick arm on time consistently. FB shows short-arm side run. Medium downer CB w/ occasional proper shape and rotation. Around the zone w/ his 2-pitch mix. Generated 2 swing and misses on 13 swings.
7/3/18 - Home-1st: 4.56, Position Velocity: IF-79, Exit Velocity: 78
5-foot-10, 165-pound, RHH shows an intriguing all-around skill-set w/ intangibles. Medium, athletic frame w/ some present lower half strength, projectable. Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, upright stance w/ short hand rhythm into stride and little hand load. Would benefit from some separation in the form of a hand load, almost cuts himself off to create a path to swing the bat. Rotational swing at times. Learning to consistently repeat lower half, cuts himself off at times. Projectable above average runner. Defensively, features soft hands w/ ability to play through the baseball and some length in his release. In an age where many players are quiet, stands out for how vocal he is on the field, helps keep his teammates engaged with consistent chatter. Has shown this both at the showcase and when we sat on his travel team for a day earlier this summer. A true standout for makeup.
1/15/18 - 60 Time: 7.38, Position Velocity: IF-76, Exit Velocity: 82 5-foot-8, 155-pound, RHH shows intriguing all-around skillset. Short, athletic w/ some present lower half strength, some physical projection. Offensively, hits from a straight on, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location. Some bat waggle. Shift of weight w/ proper stride and load. Generates bat speed through the zone, has better bat speed then exit velocity indicates. Learning to repeat swing and stay through the ball just a bit longer, occasional hip leak. All fields approach when right w/ ability to go gap to gap. Defensively, moves well w/ good hands and feet. Took a little time with release on this day, likely quicker in game. Intriguing all around player.
