6-foot-1, 207-pound, RHH showed a more consistent pop time range than we have seen in the past. Medium, athletic frame w/ present strength in lower half. Prototypical catcher build. Offensively, hits from a straight on, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location. Knee to knee thigh high leg kick w/ proper hand load. Can get over rotational at times. Feel for line drives. Still learning to repeat same swing and timing of leg kick. Tools to hit when everything is synced together. Defensively, sets a good target, can set it earlier. Moves well behind the plate w/ ability to box the baseball. Can set a lower target to make framing the low pitch easier. Soft hands w/ an idea of how to frame. As a thrower, features good feet w/ short arm hitch and carry to target.
6’1, 185-pound, RHH is most definitely on of, if not the most improved player we’ve seen over the past year or so. Mast came to the Top Prospect Games and made a statement about his abilities and the amount of work he has clearly put in. The strength he has added and the fine tuning of is swing have not only added to his exit velocity, but have given him a presence in the box. Mast uses a big leg kick with good rhythm and generates solid bat speed and strength through contact on a slightly uphill plane. He currently shows gap power and could develop a whole lot more. Defensively, he is sound with good hands and clean footwork. Mast has an efficient exchange and uses a short arm action to create good carry to the bag. A hitch in his arm action is the only thing keeping him from an even lower pop time. A consistent player, Mast finished 2-3 with a double and a walk in game play.
6/14/16 - 60 Time: 7.51, Pop Time: 1.97-2.10, Position Velocity: C-75, Exit Velocity: 84
6'0, 175-pound, RHH hits from a tall and slightly open stance and uses a big leg kick and stride along with a rhythmic hand drop and load to get himself ready to go. Gets the lower half around but doesn’t get it all the way through at times, hands get in a good slot and stays pretty flat through the zone, hit a few balls hard in BP. Defensively, showed good hands and a clean exchange with some good arm strength from behind the plate, did a good job of blocking throughout game play and has a chance to develop into a really good player at the catcher position.
