6-foot, 165-pound frame with quick-twitch athletic actions. Romero ran a 6.86 laser-timed 60. He showed tremendous barrel awareness in BP hitting every ball off of the barrel all over the yard; 89 mph exit velo off the tee. His swing has fluidity, looseness, and rhythm that contribute to his easy swing. Romero starts in a slightly open stance, with plenty of looseness and rhythm in his hands, has a smooth simple load with his body and hands, takes a small leg kick with excellent balance, works from behind the baseball with his body which allows for minimal head movement in the swing, swing has level plane and barrel is in the zone a long time, and has a quick bat. In the infield he has flashy actions with fluid footwork and a clean exchange, and showed some accuracy at 84 mph across the diamond. Off the mound, he has a smooth delivery with a loose arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. His fastball sat 82-85 mph, threw a sweeping slider at 73-76 mph, and worked his changeup down with some depth at 78-79 mph. He has smooth rhythm in his delivery, a long smooth arm stroke, direction in his legs and shoulders, and has an athletic finish. Romero reaches his balance point and then sinks into his back leg, where he stays engaged until his front foot is down the mound, strong leg drive in his delivery with some effort involved. Romero plays with confidence and has big body language at the plate, in the field, and on the mound.
