Long limbed 6-foot, 160-pound frame with room to develop into his body. Timmons flashed pull-side power in BP by driving balls with backspin to the left field wall, takes aggressive hacks, and has some solid lower body mechanics to help him generate some power; 83 mph exit velo off the tee. Timmons starts in an athletic open stance with his hands around his back shoulder, has a long load back with his hands to create some separation, he pulls his front foot back near his midline and his body stays behind a long stride with his front foot, lands square and his barrel works level through the zone, has some explosiveness in his lower half, and maintains balance throughout the swing. In the field he has soft hands, fluid footwork, works around the baseball and then plays through the ball with a quick release from various arm angles (80 mph) with accuracy. He ran a 7.62 60-yard dash. Timmons threw his fastball 79-80 mph from a high ¾ arm slot with a long arm action. He spun his curveball down in the zone at 65-67 mph with a big 11/5 shape, and threw his changeup with fastball arm speed at 72-74 mph. He has smooth rhythm in the delivery with a controlled balance point, has regular effort in the delivery, establishes direction in line to the plate, and has an upright finish to his delivery. Timmons has impressive actions in the infield, and his range was much better than his 60-time would indicate. His tools will continue to improve as he adds more strength into his frame.
10.28.17
Timmons stands 6-foot, 160-pounds, with a lanky, long-limbed frame, and plenty of room to add strength in the coming years. The right-handed hitter starts from an open, stacked stance with good flex in his lower half and relaxed hands. Smooth load as he triggers his hands back, then uses a reverse leg lift before striding forward. Slots the barrel early, then works on a flat path to contact with a front arm bar. Rotational lower half, creates hard contact to the pull side with an exit velocity of 81 mph, and more power to come. On the infield, Timmons has a quick exchange with rhythm through the ball and a quick release. Hands work well after the catch, transitioning quickly to his midline. Made two nice plays on the run, showing athleticism and an accurate arm. Loose arm swing at 76 mph across the diamond. A two-way player and right-handed pitcher, Timmons works from a high-¾ slot with a long, loose arm stroke. Smooth drop and drive delivery with an athletic finish. Fastball ranged from 76-77 mph, topping out at 79. Recorded a strikeout on his curveball that has 11/5 shape at 61-62 mph. Changeup shows signs of becoming a solid secondary pitch with good arm speed and depth at 69-72 mph.
07.25.17
Timmons stands 5-foot-11, 160-pounds, with a lanky, long-limbed frame, and plenty of room to add strength in the coming years. On the infield, Timmons has a quick exchange with rhythm through the ball and a quick release. Hands work well after the catch, transitioning quickly to his midline and into a long, loose arm stroke at 75 mph. Arm works well out front, accurate thrower, athletic fielder on the run. At third base during the game he made a nice play on a swinging bunt chopper to get the runner at first base. The right-handed hitter has a relaxed, tall, neutral stance. Simple, smooth load back, short stride, good lower half weight transfer. Handled the ball on the outer half during batting practice, front arm bar, longer path and a 79 mph exit velocity. Ran a 7.53 60-yard dash.
