February 2018 HS Season
Uncommitted. At 6-foot, 210-pounds, Arredondo has a strong, thick, muscular frame but still has enough athleticism to play third base. The right-hander has a short quick arm stroke from a high slot. He pitched twice in less than 24 hours, each time for an inning. On Friday night he pitched 85-87, topping out once 88 and 89 with some angle. His curveball was sharp with good depth and 11/5 shape at 76-77 mph. On Saturday morning, he recorded a save by putting down a late rally from Cypress Ranch. He pumped strikes with tilt on his fastball at 85-87 mph. Threw a couple of curveballs at 74.

Arredondo is a name to remember in the junior class. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a clean, short arm stroke. His fastball sat 85-87 mph with some heavy arm side action. His breaking ball varies in shape and what he calls a slider actually varies between a curveball (72-74 mph) and more of a slider (76-77 mph). Either way, the pitch comes in with good shape and rotation, and I could see him making a jump this spring. At 6-foot, 210-pounds, Arredondo moves well for his size, and his soft hands, smooth footwork, and ability to play low and throw on the run should allow for him to stay at third base. He moves well for his size at third base, has a strong arm across the infield (88 mph), and is a projectable right-handed hitter. Starts from a tall stance, then loads back smooth as he pushes back with a short leg kick. Lands square and balanced, strong lower half transfer, short, inside-out path to contact. Strong hands, makes hard contact with gap power and an exit velocity of 91 mph.
